Ⅱ. Healthy People and Society

Contributing to individual well-being and a healthy society

Our vision for Healthy People and Society is a society where each individual is mentally and physically healthy, has opportunities to realize their full potential, and can lead a ful-filling life through continuous challenges and learning.

However, in reality, Japan faces limitations on corporate growth due to stagnant productivity and labor shortages, and many people in younger generations cannot envision a bright future for their country.
Consequently, it is difficult to say that Japanese society as a whole is brimming with sufficient vitality.

That is why we will support Japanese corporate management from both financial and operational perspectives, working to improve productivity and create a work environment that fosters pride and a sense of fulfillment for employees.

Additionally, having continuously challenged ourselves to transform, we are committed to nurturing the potential of children and young people who are willing to take on challenges.

And as a foundation for supporting these challenges and learning, we will build on our history of addressing the health issues of each era to ensure reliable access to appropriate healthcare.

We will promote the empowerment of each individual at every stage of life.

Daiichi Life Group is currently focusing on enhancing management from both financial and non-financial perspectives. To further refine our Core Materiality, a key element of this strategy, we engaged in in-depth discussions with internal and external stakeholders in FY2025 to clarify how initiatives addressing our Core Materiality can create social value while enhancing both financial performance and corporate value. Through this process, we identied priority themes on which we will focus our efforts.
For Healthy People and Society, we have established the following three priority themes.

Priority ThemesUnderlying Social Issues and Why the Group Is Addressing Them
③ Improving Work Environment Through Higher Productivity
  • In Japan, labor shortages are becoming increasingly severe due to the decline in the working-age population, making it increasingly important for companies to improve productivity and foster workplace environments that attract and retain talent. This trend is particularly pronounced among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which play a vital role in supporting regional economies.
  • We support corporate management from both financial and operational perspectives through “Benefit Station,” one of Japan’s largest employee benefits platforms, as well as B2B BPO services and corporate insurance-related services, helping create more engaging and supportive workplaces.
④ Expanding Opportunities to Support Future Challenges
  • It is said that there is a shortage of next-generation talent to drive transformation and take on new challenges.
  • We have been engaging with people’s lives while transforming ourselves into a stock company and an insurance-related service provider. Building on our corporate philosophy of continuously undertaking such transformations, we believe we can provide children and young people with opportunities to take on challenges through education, help them recognize the value of taking challenges, and encourage them to take action.
⑤ Enhancing Physical and Mental Well-being of All People
  • Health is an important shared global theme. In developing countries, challenges include deteriorating health and sanitation conditions due to poverty and inadequate healthcare infrastructure, while in developed counties, the rise in lifestyle-related diseases has become a major concern. While average life expectancy is increasing, there is still room to further extend the period of healthy life.
  • We have been committed to health promotion since our founding in 1902, contributing to society by addressing the specific issues faced by each country. We will continue to advance our initiatives toward solving health issues and extending healthy life expectancy.
Note: The implementing entities vary depending on the priority themes and the nature of the initiatives.

Priority Theme③ Improving Work Environment Through Higher Productivity

Improving productivity

Provision of BPO Services for Operational Efficiency

The business environment has been changing rapidly in recent years, and increasingly complex challenges have emerged that cannot be effectively addressed through standalone measures such as the introduction of individual services. Amid these circumstances, we provide B2B BPO services to small and medium-sized enterprises, which employ the majority of Japan’s workforce, to help them address administrative and human resource challenges and improve productivity. In doing so, we support the creation of workplaces where people can thrive.

Enhancing corporate attractiveness

Initiatives to Enhance Corporate Attractiveness

In order to create a society in which everyone can enjoy a better and more fulfilling life, it is essential not only to establish inclusive social systems that support the foundation of living but also to provide opportunities for people to find purpose and fulfillment through their connections with society. As there is a growing need to create environments where individuals can find purpose and meaning in their lives through connections with society, we are expanding into new business areas beyond our traditional insurance business, including the provision of comprehensive employee benefits services, to advance initiatives that contribute to the sustainable growth of companies. In addition, we are committed to providing comprehensive health support that underpins sustainable corporate growth by expanding into non-insurance fields such as prevention, health promotion, and data utilization.
