Overview of Initiatives to Respect Human Rights
We will promptly grasp trends on human rights from the international community, and have a correct understanding of human rights principles, initiatives and guidelines. In addition, we continue to endeavor to develop employees who always think of others when taking action in any situation.We will aim to become a company deeply rooted in the value of “respect for human rights” in the pursuit of human happiness.

Basic Policy
The Daiichi Life Group has established the Human Rights Policy of Daiichi Life Group in accordance with the United Nations' “Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights”. In addition, the Daiichi Life Group states in the Daiichi Life Group Code of Conduct that it will respect the human rights of all people and actively work for human rights awareness, and will not discriminate for any reason and tolerate such acts.

Structure to promote human rights due diligence
The overall sustainability initiatives of the Daiichi Life Group, including human rights, are discussed by the Group Sustainability Committee. Efforts to promote human rights awareness among group employees are discussed by the Group Human Rights Awareness Committee. Both committees work together to advance the initiatives related to human rights due diligence.
Human Rights Risk Identification, Assessment, and Reduction Process
Human rights due diligence of our business
Daiichi Life Group is committed to respecting the human rights of all stakeholders involved in all of our entire business, including the supply chain.
Identification of human rights, risk assessment and development of mitigation measures are conducted by the following process. This process is regularly repeated every year to increase its effectiveness.

- *For overseas subsidiaries, we check their status once a year by having them answer confirmation questions including human rights due diligence, identify risks, and perform a ranking evaluation.
Human rights due diligence of our business partners (outsourcing contractors)
At the outsourcing contract sign-off, Daiichi Life Group and Daiichi Life presents the “Request for cooperation regarding sustainability initiatives in business transactions” to the outsourcing contractor, assess the outsourcing contractor's sustainability-related initiatives, including human rights due diligence using the “Sustainability Assessment Sheet”, and requests their cooperation to implement initiatives which are similar quality of Daiichi Life Group and Daiichi Life.
Our company regulations (standards) strictly stipulate the obligation to respond to the “Sustainability Assessment Sheet” for outsourcing contractors. We annually verify the appropriateness and confirm whether there are any significant human rights risks at all outsourcing contractors, including both new and ongoing contracts.
- Existence of policies to prevent human rights violations
- Existence of assigned persons in charge and departments to prevent human rights violations and provide remedies
- Existence of systems to identify human rights risks and assess their impacts
- Existence of initiatives to prevent human rights violations, including raising employee awareness of human rights
- Existence of policies to eliminate forced labor, child labor, and employment discrimination
Human rights due diligence related to M&A and other new business expansion
There is always possibility that emerging human rights risks arise from M&A and other new business expansion. We are aware of the need to reduce risks, including those related to human rights, when pursuing new business expansion.Daiichi Life Group assesses human rights risks in the due diligence process for all M&A and other new business relations undertaken by the Daiichi Life Group and takes appropriate measures.
